ABSTRACT
The article reports on the dismissal of a lawsuit brought by business owners and taxpayers against the Detroit Public Schools, which sought to regain the money after the district admitted that it collected $259 million of taxes from 2002 to 2004 without approval. Wayne County Circuit Judge Isidore Torres rejected the argument of the defendants that the district should repay them about $80 million it collected in taxes without approval. Torres said that the complaints filed in 2005 were too late.
