Holstein herd rides the dairy boom

The article focuses on the dispersal of Mr. and Mrs. David Jewell's commercial Holstein herd at Durston, Somerset in England as of June 2006. The top price of 1600 guineas came for a second calver still giving nearly 40kg after a January 2006 calving. Buyer was neighbouring farmer Robert Rowe. He also gave 1520 guineas for a young cow while a three times 11,000kg sixth calver by Supersires Showboy made 1020gns.
