ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the mandate of the Humanitas Prize to recognize television and motion picture writers who create stories that communicate values and give meaning to lives. Past winners including David Milch, David Kelly and Cameron Crowe have an ongoing commitment with the community programs Humanitas sponsors. Director Chris Donahue states that to be a writer, one has to understand the human condition, and that, stories must carry a sense of redemption.
