The article reports on the turmoil in the 2006 third quarter methanol market. The European methanol market has been thrown into upheaval by an initial third-quarter contract settlement at € 245/tonne, representing a drop of € 40/tonne on the second quarter. The number, concluded between contract partners who do not usually lead the contract settlements, is unexpectedly low and does not meet with the expectations of other major producers.
