ABSTRACT
The article reports on the approval won by Urumqi Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Chinese energy major PetroChina, from the central government to build a world-scale aromatics complex in western China. The project at Urumqi, Xinjiang province, will produce 930 000 tonne/year of paraxylene and 320 000 tonne/year of benzene.
