The article reports that the commercial-scale gas-to-liquids plant, built by Foster Wheeler, has been commissioned in Ras Laffan, Qatar as of June 12, 2006. The unit was built for Oryx GTL, which is a joint venture between state-owned Qatar Petroleum and South Africa's Sasol. The unit will use amount of gas from Qatar's North Field to produce diesel, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas. Further expansions of Oryx will be done with Sasol-Chevron.
