ABSTRACT
The article looks at the chemical trade balance in Europe as of June 12, 2006. Trade group Cefic noted that the chemicals trade balance with countries outside the European Union in 2005 was modest. It is noteworthy that the region's chemicals executives look to South America as the next region to threaten low-cost imports to Europe. The trade balance particularly reflects the underlying trend and the major downside risk to chemicals growth for the leading producing regions.
