ABSTRACT
The article focuses on acquisitions of worldwide chemical companies as of June 12, 2006. A number of factors have caused merger and acquisition multiples for speciality chemical deals to increase recently. Of the top ten deals in 2005, four involved private-equity buyers, while the remaining six were trade deals. Looking forward, Peter Young of Young & Partners expects the year to be a relatively busy year, despite the low-dollar volume in the first quarter.
