South American firms seal deal

State-owned companies Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos and Petróleos de Venezuela plan to create a joint venture, named Petroandina, which will control Bolivia's hydrocarbons chain. Bolivian president Evo Morales said the initiative was part of his aim to nationalize and industrialize his country's hydrocarbon assets.
