ABSTRACT

The article discusses reasons for opposing direct sex instruction in the public schools in the United States. First, sex education would be isolated from the real life of the child. Second, too much attention would be focused on sex. Third, there is no assurance that the ideas received from sex teaching would be carried over into the conduct and behavior of the child. According to the author, instruction in the school is not necessary when parents are in the home who tell the truth to their children, at the right time and in the right way. He adds that the real problem of sex education is to show parents the great opportunity and duty they have in imparting sex knowledge and information to their children.
