The article focuses on the BlueCasting technology of the firm Filter UK, which uses proximity-based mobile messaging for advertising campaigns. The idea of such a campaign is for a mobile phone subscriber to walk within 300 feet of a BlueCasting server, and receives a message or video clip on the mobile phone about a product or service. Advertisers are interested in the technology, due to the fact that most of the newer phones in the U.S. have Bluetooth capabilities.
