Time Warner taps into IMS

The article reports on Time Warner Cable and Siemens Communications Inc.'s using of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) technology. The IMS technology hands off fixed line and mobile traffic and supports other IP-based applications. IMS is an important component of CableLabs PacketCable Release 2 specs. The demonstration focused on fixed mobile convergence. Its demonstration included dual-mode handsets. Other applications include a photo sharing service and a movie locator. Siemens supplied several IMS network elements for the demonstration.
