ABSTRACT
This article discusses the meaning of democracy in college life. The earliest and first meaning of democracy comes down from Greek times, and is "government by the people." The second which may be called the "American" meaning, and is the "government for the people." The two meanings may be considered as inseparable but in fact they are quite distinct. The third meaning refers to the manners of people under a truly democratic government which tells how people behave toward others. The idea of equality is inherent in democracy.
