The article reports on the increase in demand seen by Det Norske Veritas for its effective tank cleaning notation standard. According to the classification society, 93 chemical and oil product tankers have been built to this standard, but an additional 80 new buildings have been ordered. The company said cleaning cargo tanks on chemical and product tankers is time-consuming and labor intensive due to internal structures, shadows, lack of hot water capacity, and the lack of capacity in fixed tank cleaning machines.
