ABSTRACT
The article reports on the agreement to restore the earnings' link to the basic state pension by the Prime Minister and the Chancellor. The state pension sets its rise in line with earnings from 2012. The deal lifts the barrier to pension reform between Number 10 and the Treasury. It also opens the way for the reforms of Turner including his proposed national pension savings scheme.
