Laser welds a sharp blade

June 2006
Industrial Laser Solutions;Jun2006, Vol. 21 Issue 6, p4
The article reports that Zena AG has chosen laser welding, which will be used in the production of Julienne cutters. Zena plans to produce approximately 300,000 Julienne cutters during its first year of semi-automatic series production. Laser welding was chosen because it hits the welding sport accurately even in narrow geometries and does not go off the edges, and it facilitates the construction of a welding gauge. Zena has chosen Rofin's StarWeld TT, which integrates the laser source, deflection unit, working chamber, and control unit in a compact housing.
