The article focuses on the use of inventory management systems in the U.S. sporting goods industry as of May 2006. The installation of Manhattan Associates' Warehouse Management solution now helps Hibbett Sporting Goods track products from the moment they are received until they are shipped to the stores. Sportsman's Warehouse went live with the Retail.net solution from Tomax in 2003, and now every point-of-sale transaction is sent to the data center in Utah as soon as it is complete.
