ABSTRACT
The article discusses the current trends in U.S. television miniseries based on submissions to the 2006 Emmy Awards. Changing consumer tastes, evolving buying patterns and the advent of cable have shaped U.S. television miniseries. It suggests a conflation in the category of something that is more than a television film but less than a recurring series. Some of the reasons for limited series to avoid the Emmy drama category are cited.
