ABSTRACT
The article discusses the current state of the movies for television industry in the United States. The decline of the genre was underscored by the May 2006 decision of CBS to end its Sunday movie franchise after more than 20 years. Producers lamented the demise of the last network movie night. They blamed the popularity of reality shows and the reliance of network development executives on tried-and-true genres and stars.
