ABSTRACT
The article presents remarks from Archibald Macleish, librarian of the U.S. Congress and chairman of the 1937 National Congress of American Writers, regarding an article by Eugene Lyons published in the December 9, 1939 issue of the "The Saturday Evening Post." Macleish argues that the spread of Fascism is of prime concern to U.S. writers. He states that the Fascist theory of warfare is a theory of conquest by sudden attacks upon civilian populations.
