ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on the jazz sector in the U.S. To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Impulse Records, a slate of compact disc collections and concerts has been planned, spurred by the publication of Ashley Kahn's book, The House That Trane Built: The Story of Impulse Records. In celebrating its 20th anniversary, New York-based Chesky Records will launch an ambitious series called the New York Sessions. Seven Super Audio Compact Discs will be issued in 2006 beginning with July releases by pianist David Hazeltine supported by rhythm team George Mraz on bass and Billy Drummond on drums and guitarist John Abercrombie with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Gene Jackson.
