ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the rise in Japan's digital music market. Sales of full-song downloads totaled 1.2 billion yen. But the number would have been higher if it reflected sales at the Japanese version of Apple's iTunes Music Store. Keith Cahoon, president/CEO of Tokyo-based music publishing/promotion company Hotwire, suggests that despite the rapid expansion of the digital market, the financial infrastructure has not kept pace.
