Financial Executive;Jan/Feb1998, Vol. 14 Issue 1, p54
Academic Journal
The article discusses the main role of a chief financial officer (CFO) and the duties that the job entails. According to Philip Livingston, the chief financial officer of Catalina Marketing Corporation, the role of the CFO is more that of a business partner rather than a financial planner. Livingston believes that those who want to be CFOs should develop their people management skills, technical accounting knowledge, computer literacy, financial analysis skills, and communication skills. He also adds that an ideal CFO should be knowledgeable in deal closings, financings, investor relations, and preferably be a certified public accountant.
