ABSTRACT
The article states that Deutsche Bahn AG is aligning some of the operations of BAX Global Inc. and Schenker, its two freight units. U.S.-based BAX and Schenker will share a DC-8 freighter over the Atlantic in a cooperative built around the control of airline assets that the companies say they hope to duplicate in other areas. The operations between Schenker's Europe hub at Germany's Hahn Airport and BAX's Toledo, Ohio, hub will allow both operators to streamline international transport and handoffs. Freight at either end will be handled through each operator's domestic network. Air Transport International, the airline separated from BAX when Schenker parent Deutsche Bahn bought BAX in January 2006, will operate the flight.
