ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the nomination of Mandy Patinkin for lead actor in the Emmy Awards for playing the role of FBI Special Agent Jason Gideon in the television series "Criminal Minds." Patinkin's main challenge in portraying Gideon was developing a mental vocabulary for horror, sadness, and pain. He would love to see Gideon to have more fun, but he has no idea of how to do it. He refers to Gideon as an idiot savant in terms of psychological crime busting and as a moron in terms of quality of life. INSET: Sound bites.
