ABSTRACT
The article reports that New Line has tapped Nicole Blonsky to star as Tracy Turnblad in "Hairspray," after winning the role in a nationwide search. Blonsky joins John Travolta, Queen Latifah, and Amanda Bynes in the film adaptation of the musical, which will be directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. The film is set for a summer 2007 release.
