ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the plan of retailers to expand its businesses in the Eastern European market. The decision of the retailers to venture into the Eastern part of the region was driven by the stronger retail sales in the emerging markets such as Hungary and Russia. The introduction of hypermarkets, a combination of department store and supermarket, and discount stores has change the consumer behavior of shopping. The expansion of retailers had resulted to intense competition.
