ABSTRACT
The article features the recent video compression player, the Joint Photographic Experts Group 2000 or the JPEG2000 which serves as an important part of digital surveillance systems. The compressed data of this new compression technique offers flexible mechanisms to acquire different representations of the original image. It also uses wavelets and has many advantages over Moving Pictures Experts Group 4 (MPEG4) including the latency, image quality and temporal compression schemes.
