ABSTRACT
This article discusses the life and career of television talk show host Oprah Winfrey. The author praises Winfrey for teaching her viewers a degree of self knowledge and for giving them a great deal of hope. In the author's opinion, in 1986 when "The Oprah Winfrey Show" went into national syndication, the program became an agent of cultural revolution. The author attributes the victory of Bill Clinton over George H. W. Bush to lessons taught by Winfrey.
