ABSTRACT
The article reports on the expansion plans of the Cranfield University in England. It has opened £2.5 million lightweight structure laboratories to enhance its research capability. Composites manufacturing, and polymer and ceramics processing are some of the activities carried on in the laboratories. The Cranfield Impact Centre has installed an impact sled which supports testing of Formula 1 cars. Rigs have been established for occupant safety and material testing.
