ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the report published by Standard & Poor's Corp. regarding the unfunded pension liabilities that could threaten the creditworthiness in the bond issuance of several transportation sector in the United States. This includes transit authorities, airports and other transportation sector issuers of municipal bonds. The report reflects that these sectors have unfunded liabilities for health care and other post-employment benefits (OPEB) too. The report states that the pension funding practices in the transportation sector is aimed at developments in state and local governments.
