ABSTRACT
This article reports that GE Bayer Silicones GmbH has launched a new grade of liquid silicone rubber offering improved high-temperature performance specifically for automotive applications. According to Holger Albrecht, GE Bayer Silicones global marketing manager, the new material was engineered to address the growing exposure of automotive parts particularly in applications like charge-air cooler gaskets and other sealing elements to higher temperatures under the hood. The company said that the material has outstanding moldfilling characteristics, allowing for the molding of complex parts like charge-air cooler gaskets with just one injection point.
