ABSTRACT
The article presents quotations related to the chemical industry as of May 2006. According to Clive Watson, chief financial officer of Borealis, cracker margins of the company were squeezed and there was a rapid escalation in electricity costs, and an inability of the company to fully push these increases through in the first quarter of 2006. Joe Kamalick, International Chemical Information Service (ICIS) chief correspondent, states that the North American commodity chemicals business would likely disappear.
