Brazil's PQU's earnings and net income drop

The article reports on the profits posted by Brazil-based Petroquimica Uniao SA in the first quarter of 2006. The chemical company posted first quarter 2006 earnings before interest tax, depreciation and amortization of Real 35.6 million (€13.6 million/$17.3 million) a decline of 65.4% compared with the year-earlier figure. Sales revenues were down 11.8% year-on-year to Real 685.1 million and net income declined by 80% to Real 10.4 million.
