ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the challenges facing Tokyo, Japan-based automated parking operator Park24 in dealing with the increase in demand for parking lots following the implementation of restrictions on illegal parking in June 2006. The company has switched to managing lots as demand for its no-parking placards increased. The increase in demand has contributed to the growth of the company's annual revenue past $400 million. According to the company, the answer to such problem is to rent small parcels of vacant land and convert it into parking lots.
