ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the efforts of vendors to help operators backhaul the traffic being created by data services in the U.S. as of May 15, 2006. A combination of wireless radio links and fiber-optic connections to backhaul wireless traffic from the cell site to the switch is being used by the cellular backhaul network of FiberTower. David Leeds, co-founder and vice-president of sales at FiberTower, stated that the company is evaluating the market to quickly deploy its network to a committed customer. Balaji Ramarao, senior executive for North American Network Solutions Group at Accenture, says that they are looking for alternatives on the backhaul network.
