ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the impact of corruption on the inflow of foreign investments in several countries. The Indonesian government put in charge of all tsunami relief efforts its Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Agency whose director Kuntoro Mangkusubroto is renowned for remaining untainted by corruption. Nine of the 16 most seriously corrupt countries are in Africa, 2 in former Soviet republics, 3 in Asia and 2 in Latin America. In many cases, corruption is used to maintain power for the ruling governments fighting civil wars or insurgencies using diverted funds to buy arms such as the case in Angola.
