ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the leadership of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. He is the first president of the country elected through a direct vote. Yudhoyono was criticized for being slow to act. Among his accomplishments since the election include a peace deal with rebels in Aceh province and reducing fuel subsidies which led to its 125% increase in retail prices.
