ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study that examined people's awareness regarding how to use a condom. The study was conducted on 360 condom users who were attending a family planning clinic in Michigan. Five steps were suggested for greater degree of protection including the use of condom for each intercourse, putting the condom on prior to first vaginal entry, taking off the condom while the penis is erect, holding the rim while withdrawing the condom and the use of spermicide. The study showed that among 360 condom users, only 1% followed these steps, 12-28% regularly followed some of the four steps and 13% did not follow any of the steps. Women who had never had an abortion and who used condom during the first month of the use of pills had less information about condom use.
