ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the emerging business called the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). An MVNO purchases wholesale minutes from a wireless carrier, customizes its services, content and devices and repackages them for sale to niche markets. Several MVNOs in the U.S. market includes Virgin Mobile, Amp'd and Helio. The Web-based software from Visage Mobile links MVNO to network operators and subscribers and runs much of the customer service. INSET: A Phone for All That You Are.
