As of November 2005, Acer's share increased 51 percent while Dell's share declined 30 percent. According to market research group Gartner, Acer is the fourth-biggest seller of personal computers worldwide. Acer has an advantage over Dell in China as consumers prefer to purchase from retailers who will be around to answer questions and offer service.
