The article focuses on the sponsorship of corporations for soccer players. Vodafone has decided not to renew the sponsorship contract of David Beckham. According to Global Sponsors founder Michael Stirling, the market for individual player is softer than usual in 2006 because the start of the quadrennial World Cup is near. Beckham is included in the top 10 highly paid soccer player.
