ABSTRACT
The article offers a look at the efforts of Singapore to become Asia's hub for the life sciences and financial services. Among the factors needed by the country to succeed in the competitive arena of biotechnology are talented scientists and strong corporate partnerships. A $6 million grant was received by Man Coleman, who led the team of geneticists that cloned a sheep, to relocate to Singapore. In its second efforts to become Asia's financial hub, the Singapore Exchange made steady progress in expanding and globalizing its listings.
