The article reports that the cultural institutions in Chicago, Illinois have requested for new funding from an increase in the sales tax to compensate for the dwindling fiscal help. The museums in the park are vital to Chicago's reputation as a cultural destination. The cultural institutions have faced reduced funding from state and local governments, investment income, fees, charges, private subsidies and grants.
