The article reports on the formation of a joint venture between American Bridge Co. and Fluor Enterprises Inc. The venture had entered into a contract for the construction of the self-anchored tower. This will replace the 70-year old bridge that had demonstrated its weakness in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, when part of its upper deck fell.
