The article reports on the global expansion plan of Australia's Woodside Petroleum in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market. The difference of opinion with China on LNG prices is one of the factors driving Woodside closer to the U.S. and encouraging the Australian company to become more of a global player in the oil and gas business. This is seen through its Woodside's investment in Gulf of Mexico oil and gas production, a new oil field being developed off the coast of Mauritania and investment in the oil industries of Algeria, Libya and Iraq.
