ABSTRACT
The article reports on the marketing authorization granted by the European Commission for the biopharmaceutical drug Omnitrope as of May 2006. The European Commission has given its backing for the first generic version of a biopharmaceutical drug to be commercialized in the European Union. Omnitrope is used in treating growth hormone deficiency and is the first biogenetic drug to be granted marketing authorization in the European Union.
