The article considers the possible tightness of the market for epichlorohydrin (ECH) in 2006. The limited supplies in Europe and the continued uptrend in feedstock costs helped ECH producers achieve a third successive increase for quarterly contracts, taking prices to record levels. Operating rates remain high but tightness has plagued the ECH market for much of the past year, exacerbated by a series of plant outages.
