ABSTRACT
The article criticizes an address by Sarah Ball Teslik, CEO of the CFP Board of Standards, a regulatory body for financial planners, in which she stated that financial planners need to set the bar lower when preparing their clients for retirement. She continued to suggest that many Americans are not saving enough money to support their vision of retirement, and give up after seeing that their goals are unattainable. The author suggests that the concerns are not a savings problem but a responsibility problem due to individuals going into debt to experience an affluent lifestyle.
