ABSTRACT
The article reports that assessing annual profit, convenience operators are reporting strong performances from the food service category. When asked to name the biggest change in the food service program over the past year, a majority of respondents cited new menu items, which served in many cases to bring new energy. Gate Petroleum Co. turned its attention to breakfast in 2005. The Jacksonville, Florida-based chain with 100 stores--about 80 of which have some kind of food service--introduced a new line of breakfast sandwiches by Lettieri's to its "Sandwich Central" program.
